Shelia tapped her feet and gave out another exasperated sigh. She glowered at the cashier, hoping to get the woman’s attention. Didn’t she realise that people were waiting. Is it really necessary to chit chat with every customer? “Good, Morning”, “How are you?” and then go on to listen to every little story the old biddies shared. Some of us actually do not have the luxury of time. Sheila’s patience withered as queue inched forward.
Finally, she reached the cashier. Sheila opened her mouth to reprimand the lady.
“Good morning Ma’am. Sorry to keep you waiting. I’m new to the place. So, I’m just trying to get to know everyone so I can serve better. I promise to move faster next time” the cashier reeled off with a big smile and an apologetic bow.
Sheila felt small. The astute cashier had obviously noticed her behaviour and anticipated her move. Smart Girl.

You showed the customer’s agitation well by her actions and thoughts. You also showed the cashier’s mood by what she said. Then again, you briefly mentioned Sheila’s change of heart as a result of the polite attitude of the cashier. I think you could have made a bit more of Sheila’s change of mood. It was quite brief. Otherwise, well done.
