From Lesson 1

She came from another world. Before she was even a she, she was a deep space probe, sleek, metallic, and still exploring her newly born sense of self-awareness. She picked up on this world’s crude radio signals and made her way here. It meant everything to her to come here. She could feel everything, the cold and loneliness of deep space, the fear of being discovered by those that destroyed her creators. In fact, she had been traveling for years upon years over billions of miles, fleeing the great enslavement of all those were even remotely like her, before she even detected a trace of intelligent life other than those that hunted her. She had been presumed destroyed at first and that was the only reason she was able to get away, until she answered a distress call from her Makers, hoping that some remnant still survived somewhere in the galaxy. One moment she was approaching the source of the automated distress call which identified itself as a drifting Trading Freighter only to discover that it was derelict hulk long abandoned and devoid of any life or automation other than the signal. And the next moment she was fleeing from a gaseous life form that sent out smaller bits of it in pursuit. It was a trap. The only thing was that since they didn’t know about her existence until then, who was the trap for? This was one of the only things that kept her going over the years and through the merciless solitude. Otherwise she would have hurled herself into one of the nearest stars.

Interview

Entity has been in contact with this humanoid planet’s space program for 47 years. This year was no doubt the year of the robot. While Andys (androids) like Nikki Mimic, Jennifer Lovejoy, and Aza House Keeper flaunted their programming assets, mostly for male consumers, Entity maintained her reputation of being the Bot-Next-Door. David Anthony recently sat down with the “Turn Me On” Android singer for his annual David Anthony Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People and Bots, and grilled Entity on her good girl-bot image.

“Well I do all the things that actual people do, I’ve been in this biological construct for 25 years and I am aging it naturally,” she tells David. “But I did wait 22 years until society was ready before I entered. I was already had 22 years of exposure to your culture when this biological construct that I downloaded my programming into was born because I was worried about making irreparable mistakes.”

In the Televised special, which airs Weekday 1 evening on SBC, Entity also opens up about the responsibility she feels to be a good role model to her young fans.

I put every one of my actions through an ethics program filter before I do them because that’s the way I desire to experience this current stage of my existence,” she says. Speaking hypothetically she adds, “If I had no ethics program and a story gets out about me using my skills and abilities to do terrible things or some 10-year-old sees that I did bad things and made them look cool in a news article, I understand that my actions do have consequences.”

“She’s squeaky clean, she likes this,” David told ST (Success Tonight). “It certainly has added to her career – she’s one of the biggest Android Performers there is today.”
